On October 12, 2024, a devastating incident occurred in the village of Jaslpur, located in the Kadi taluka of Mahesana district, where a wall of a private company collapsed, resulting in the deaths of nine laborers.
Details of the Incident
Mahesana District Development Officer (DDO) Hasrat Jasmin reported that the tragedy unfolded at Senelize Company during construction work. The collapsing wall trapped the laborers, leading to their fatalities, which included two women. Among the trapped workers, one managed to escape alive. Notably, construction at the site has been ongoing since 2022.

The laborers involved in this unfortunate incident were reportedly from the Dahod area and had been residing at the construction site.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Milap Patel confirmed that the incident occurred at a steel company in the Jaslpur area, where new machinery was being installed. Local police, administrative officials, and firefighting teams quickly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts.

Rescue operations are currently underway, with ambulances also on-site to transport the injured. Reports indicate that the tragedy occurred during construction work, with the deceased workers being involved in the construction process.

Compensation for Victims’ Families
The Prime Minister’s Office announced that the families of the deceased would receive compensation of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), while the injured would receive ₹50,000.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also expressed his sorrow over the incident on X, stating, “The loss of life due to the wall collapse in Mahesana is extremely tragic.
