Widespread Rain Across 50 Talukas

Several parts of Gujarat received widespread rainfall in the last 24 hours, with 50 talukas reporting precipitation. Rain-bearing clouds steadily moved towards the central and northern regions of the state, bringing much-needed relief to dry areas.

Vadodara’s Sinor Leads with 0.91 Inches

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Sinor, Vadodara, at 0.91 inches.
While Sinor and Mangrol in Surat saw higher totals, most other talukas recorded less than half an inch, with many areas receiving just 1–2 millimetres.

Uneven Rainfall During Monsoon 2025

The monsoon season in Gujarat has been marked by uneven rainfall distribution:

  • Kutch, Banaskantha, and Bhavnagar received 50–135% above average rainfall.

  • Gir Somnath and Amreli faced deficits.

  • South and central Gujarat enjoyed heavier showers compared to Saurashtra and north Gujarat, which stayed relatively dry.

Wettest Districts in Gujarat

Devbhoomi Dwarka emerged as the wettest district, recording 2,079 mm of rain — 135% above its 10-year average. Other districts with above-average rainfall include Porbandar, Vadodara, Bharuch, and Tapi.

Weather Outlook and Monsoon Revival

Meteorologists expect the monsoon to strengthen mid-August, potentially balancing rainfall across the state after a slow start in early August.
Authorities continue to manage water releases from major dams like Sardar Sarovar and Ukai to prevent flooding while ensuring water for agriculture and urban supply.

Infrastructure and Disaster Preparedness

Temporary disruptions in road connectivity and drainage systems were quickly addressed. Flood-prone areas saw emergency repairs and enhanced disaster preparedness to handle further heavy rain spells.
