Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised serious concerns about the growing drug problem, illegal liquor trade, and the worsening condition of farmers in Gujarat, claiming that the state is “sinking” despite the presence of a double-engine government.

Women Express Deep Fear During Jan Aakrosh Yatra

Speaking about the feedback received during the Congress party’s ongoing Jan Aakrosh Yatra, Gandhi said women across Gujarat have repeatedly highlighted the rising threat of drugs, illegal liquor, and increasing crime, which has created a strong sense of insecurity in their daily lives.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Gujarat—known as the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, symbols of truth and justice—is witnessing a disturbing rise in activities that endanger the future of its youth.

“Criminals Are Protected, While Women Face Neglect”

Rahul Gandhi claimed that many crimes flourish because criminals receive support from people in power, while ordinary citizens—especially women—get little attention or protection.

He questioned the ruling BJP, asking:

  • Why is the government silent?

  • Which leaders are protecting these networks?

  • Why are those harming Gujarat being shielded?

Farmers Hit Hard by Floods, No Relief in Sight

Another major concern raised during the yatra, Gandhi said, is the severe distress of farmers.
Recent floods have destroyed crops, leaving thousands of families struggling.

He added that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Gujarat’s Chief Minister, he often spoke about relief packages. But now, despite being in power at both state and national levels, there is no meaningful support or relief package for affected families.

Public Anger Rising Across Gujarat

Gandhi said there is strong public anger as families worry about:

  • Their children’s future

  • The uncontrolled drug trade

  • Lack of loan waivers for farmers

  • Rising crime and insecurity

According to him, these issues show a government that is “disconnected from people’s struggles.”

Congress Vows to Continue Raising Public Issues

Rahul Gandhi said the Congress party will continue to:

  • Listen to citizens

  • Highlight failures of the BJP government

  • Expose corruption, mismanagement, and neglect

He said the party’s goal is to ensure that the voices of Gujarat’s people are heard and addressed.
