ATS Plays a Critical Role in Gujarat’s Security
“Silent Force” Protecting Citizens Round the Clock
While addressing the inauguration, Harsh Sanghavi highlighted the importance of the Anti-Terrorist Squad. He described ATS as a constant pillar of safety for the state.
According to him, ATS operates 24×7 throughout the year, ensuring protection for over 6.5 crore citizens. Moreover, it works proactively to prevent threats before they emerge.
Counter-Terrorism and National Operations
ATS Success Against Radicalisation and Drug Networks
Sanghavi also praised ATS for its role in national counter-terrorism efforts. He noted that the force has successfully exposed online terror modules that target and radicalise young people.
In addition, ATS teams have conducted major operations in more than 14 states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. Many officers spent months away from their families to ensure mission success.
Strengthening Maritime and Border Security
Gujarat’s 1,600 km Coastline Under Vigilant Watch
Speaking on coastal security, Sanghavi said guarding Gujarat’s 1,600 km coastline is a major challenge. Despite harsh sea conditions, police personnel have apprehended over 75 Pakistani intruders and disrupted drug smuggling networks.
He added that the new ATS building is not just an office. Instead, it is a high-tech security hub that will protect Gujarat for decades.
Leaders Emphasise Strong Police Force
Peace in Gujarat Attributed to Police Efficiency
State Finance, Jail and Police Housing Minister Kamlesh Patel said Gujarat’s peaceful environment is a direct result of a strong and disciplined police force. He stressed that there is zero tolerance for terrorism, drugs, or criminal activity.
Meanwhile, State Police Chief K.L.N. Rao said ATS has evolved into a specialised and modern force. With advanced weapons, training, and manpower, it is fully prepared to handle emerging threats.
Ceremony Showcases Modern Equipment
The event also featured a display of advanced police weapons and marine commando gear. Additionally, a short film showcased ATS achievements and operational successes.
Senior officials, including Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, civic leaders, MLAs, and police families, were present at the ceremony.
