Traffic on the Adalaj-Mehsana highway is being redirected due to ongoing widening work on the Chhatral overbridge over the Sabarmati River. The bridge will remain closed to all vehicular traffic until May 15, 2025, as part of a major infrastructure upgrade aimed at reducing future traffic congestion.

In order to minimize disruption, the road authorities have outlined alternative routes for commuters. Please note these diversions to ensure smoother travel during this period.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

Adalaj to Mehsana:

  • Take the route via Ambika Nagar, Kalol, Gayatri Mandir, turn left towards Piyaj village, then proceed through Vamaj, Kadi, Nandasan, and finally reach Mehsana.

Mehsana to Adalaj:

  • Follow the route through Nandasan, Rajpur Patiya, then turn left towards Jhulasan, proceed to Pansar, Vadavswami, AUDA Chokdi, and Amrit Hotel, before reaching Adalaj.

Mehsana to Gandhinagar:

  • Commuters can travel from Mehsana to Gandhinagar via Palavasna Chokdi, Rampura Chokdi, Gojariya, and Gandhinagar.

Alternatively, take the route through Nandasan, Vadu, Paliyad, Nardipur, Rupal, and Gandhinagar.

Mehsana to Ahmedabad:

  • Travel via Nandasan, Kadi, Thol, and proceed towards Ahmedabad.

Why the Diversions Are Necessary

The Chhatral overbridge widening project is part of a broader infrastructure enhancement plan that aims to alleviate future traffic bottlenecks and improve road capacity for the growing number of commuters on this important route. The closure of the bridge will help facilitate faster progress on the construction, ensuring a more efficient and safer commute once the work is completed.
